What negative control do you recommend for this antibody?

Cos1 or Cos7 cells have very low constitutive expression of PDE4s.

We will also suggest not to use this antibody (PD4-101AP) because it labels all / majority of the PDE4 subtype and variants (about 25-30 PDE’s). We recommend that you use four individual PDE4 subtype specific antibodies to determine the expression. We recommend the following antibodies:

PDE4A Antibody (PD4A-112AP)- Pan PDE4A antibody which labels, PDE4A1, PDE4A4, PDE4Ax, and PDE4A8.
PDE4B Antibody (PD4B-201AP or PD4B-212AP)- Pan PDE4B antibody which labels PDE4B1, PDE4B2, PDE4B3, PDE4B4.
PDE4C Antibody (PD4C-301AP)- Pan PDE4C antibody which labels PDE4C1, PDE4C2, PDE4C4.
PDE4D Antibody (PD4-401AP)- Pan PDE4D antibody which labels PDE4D1, PDE4D2, PDE4D3, PDE4D4, PDE4D5, PDE4D6, PDE4D7, PDE4D8, and PDE4D9.

The economical way to determine the expression of PDE4 subtype in a given sample will be to inquire our “Sampler Pack” of any 6 antibodies (50 µg) for 650.00. We also have individual variant selective antibodies for each of these subtypes along with their western blot positive controls for easy identification in Western Blotting. Phospho-specific antibodies to Phospho-PDE4A (PPD4-140AP) and Phospho-PDE4D (PPD4-440AP or PPD4-450AP) are also available.
