Overview |
After binding acetylcholine, the AChR responds by an extensive change in conformation that affects all subunits and leads to opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane. The channel is blocked by alpha-bungarotoxin. |
Molecular Function |
Ion channel, Ligand-gated ion channel, Receptor |
Subcellular Location |
Cell junction › synapse › postsynaptic cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein |
Structure |
Homopentamer. Interacts with RIC3; which is required for proper folding and assembly. |
Alternative Nomenclature |
