Overview
Controls chemokine levels and localization via high-affinity chemoking binding that is uncoupled from classic liand-driven signal transduction cascades, resulting instead in chemokine sequestration, degradation, or transcytosis. Acts as a regulator of inflammatory leukocyte interactions with lymphatic endothelial cells and is required for immature/mature dendritic cells discrimination.
Molecular Function
Chemokine Receptor activity; Scavenger receptor activity
Subcellular Location
Early endosome; Recycling endosome; Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
Expression
Endothelial cells lining afferent lympatics in dermis and lymph nodes. Also found n subcapsular and medullary sinuses, tonsillar lympatic sinuses and lymphatics in mucosa and submucosa of appendix, small intestine, and large intestine.
Structure
C-terminal cytoplasmic tail controls phosphorylation, stability, intracellular trafficking and chemokine scavenging properties.
