About this target
Forms a water-specific channel that provies the plasma mebranes of red cells and kidney proximal tubules with water permeability. Contain two tandem repeats each with three membrane-spanning domains and a pore-forming loop with the signature motif Asn-Pro-Ala. Subcellular location: Apical cell membrane; Multiplass membrane protein; Basolateral cell membrane. Expression: Renal collecting tubules.
