About this target
Forms water specific channel. Osmoreceptor which regulates water balance and mediates water flow within CNS. Aquaporins contain two tandem repeats each containing three membrane-spanning domains and a pore-forming loop with the signature motif Asn-Pro-Ala (NPA). Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass protein. Expression: Abundant in mature brain but only weakly detectable in eye, kidney, intestine, and lung.
