About this target
During cellular stress it serves to protect against mitochondrial dysfunction through the phosphorylation of mitochondrial proteins. Uses selective autophagy to clear mitochondria that has been damaged. Interacts with PARK2 and FBXO7. Subcellular location: Mitochondrion outer membrane; Single-pass membrane protein, Cytoplasm. Expression: Expression is detected at high levels in the heart, skeletal muscles and testis. Expression is detected at lower levels in the brain, placenta, liver, kidney, pancreas, prostate, ovary and small intestine.
