About this target
A cardiac hormone that may also serve as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also functions in cardiovascular homeostasis via natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and the inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Subcellular location: Secreted. Expression: Is expressed in the brain and atria, however it is expressed at much lower levels than ANP.
